Risk Assessment

Learn To Administer the MEGA  

A specialized certification training is required to learn how to administer the MEGA. Training is typically held in San Diego, California, and is co-sponsored by Institute on Violence Abuse and Trauma (IVAT). It is held in late summer, typically in August and September. If you are unable to attend, you have the option of hosting the training in your agency or facility. Sample reports are available for review.

Certification Training

Professionals do not have to be licensed in the mental health field, but should have at least two years of experience working with coarse sexual improprieties and/or sexually abusive youth. The one-day specialized certification training includes:

• Understanding Gender Differences In Risk Assessment Of Sexually Abusive Behaviors
• Understanding Age Differences In Risk Assessment Of Sexual Behavioral Problems
• Assessing Sexually Abusive Youth With Low Intellectual Functioning
• Using and Applying the MEGA Risk Assessment Tool
• Utilizing MEGA To Assess Changes In Risk Levels Over Time, Every Six Months
• Learning To Interpret the MEGA Individualized Risk Assessment Report and MEGA Individualized Risk Assessment Outcome Report


Our training is approved for up to 6.5 continuing education credits. Continuing education credits are offered at an additional fee for the following:

• Attorneys (By the State Bar of California, #11600 CE Credits Approved By CA Agencies Are Accepted In Most States)
• Counselors (By the National Board of Certified Counselors, #5659)
• Marriage and Family Therapists and Social Workers (By the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences, PCE#33)
• Nurses (By the California Board of Registered Nurses, #CEP13737)
• Psychologists (By the American Psychological Association)
